Not sure what’s holding your child back?

Your child dreads maths: homework causes tears, arguments, or complete shutdown before they even start.
Grades are sliding: you can see the gap widening but aren't sure how to support them before GCSEs arrive.
They won't ask for help: worried about being embarrassed in class, so they fall further behind in silence.
"I'm just not a maths person": they've convinced themselves of this, and that belief is the real problem.

That’s what the free diagnostic is for.

In 30 relaxed minutes online, Mr Brown finds out where your child is with maths and how they feel about it. You then receive a written recommendation for what comes next.

Joshua has been tutoring my son (Y11) and daughter (Y8) for two years now and is doing an excellent job. They have very different abilities when it comes to maths, but he caters equally well to both. One is at the top end of class and Joshua provides stretching tuition; while the other finds maths hard, but loves sessions with Joshua and is flourishing. He has the patience of a saint! I would highly recommend Joshua to anyone.

We were so pleased to have Joshua as a maths tutor for our twins while they were preparing for their GCSEs. He was friendly, patient and very accommodating, particularly when we occasionally needed to reschedule lessons at short notice.

Both of the twins went on to achieve great grades and we’re very grateful for the support and encouragement Joshua gave them throughout their preparation. He was reliable, approachable and clearly committed to helping them make progress.

I would definitely recommend Joshua to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, supportive and flexible maths tutor.

Joshua is an amazing tutor. My son got a U in the Spring mocks and was frustrated with maths.

He started with Joshua at Easter — a couple of months later he passed his GCSE and is going on to study A Levels.

Patient, empathetic, encouraging. Highly recommend him, especially to parents of students who think they can’t do maths. 🙏

Can I take a moment to thank you for all your hard work with Keyon. He got a 5 🎉 At one point he was predicted a 2! Any way I can sing your praises, I will. Greatly appreciated 🙏

Mr Brown is a 5-star maths tutor — he’s helped me make a meaningful improvement in my maths ability. His explanations are clear and he reinforces the in-lesson learning with targeted homework exercises. Patient, methodical and focused on the national curriculum. Also a lovely guy! 🙏

Mr Brown’s classes have been helping me improve my maths since I was in year 5. He’s friendly, patient and gives easy to understand explanations.

My mindset went from hating maths before, to finding it so much easier after lessons.

I highly recommend tutoring with him if you want an enjoyable experience learning maths.

Between 2022–2025, Mr Brown completely transformed our son’s attitude towards maths. With incredible patience and consistency, he took him from struggling and unmotivated to confident. He was predicted a Grade 2 and achieved a Grade 4. We’d highly recommend Mr Brown to anyone seeking a dedicated, patient, and genuinely effective maths tutor.

Many parents tell us they notice a change in attitude and confidence within the first few sessions, often before grades change. How quickly academic progress shows varies from student to student, depending on starting point, year group and how regularly they attend.
Just a device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a quiet space. Mr Brown uses a digital whiteboard so sessions feel interactive and visual. Students should also have paper and a pen. Most sessions are delivered online, so there's no travel and you can join from anywhere in the UK. In-person one-to-one lessons are also available for an additional fee (details on request), depending on tutor availability. For students who find it hard to focus at home, in-person weekend bootcamps and holiday workshops run in Tooting. Mr Brown will advise on the best format after the diagnostic.
Perfect. The Diagnostic Session is designed exactly for this. It's a relaxed, no-pressure session where your child won't feel tested. Mr Brown uses it to understand their current mindset and ability, then builds a plan from there. No prior tuition experience needed.
Payment is by bank transfer, taken after sessions have been delivered. You're never asked to pay upfront for tuition you haven't had. If you'd rather pay ahead, per session or as a block, just say and we'll set that up. No long-term contracts either: you can pause or stop any time with 48 hours’ notice.
Yes, Mr Brown holds an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate, suitable for working with children and young people. Certificate details available on request.
